Confessions of a Serial Kisser by Wendelin Van Draanen

Confessions of a Serial Kisser by Wendelin Van Draanen

Release Date: May 13, 2008
Publisher: Knopf
Format: Hardcover
Number of Pages: 297

Synopsis: Evangeline Logan wants a kiss. A spectacular, heart-stopping, life changing kiss. Somehow The Crimson Kiss (a romance novel she’s become obsessed with) and Four Steps to Living Your Fantasy (a self-help book she’s reading) have fused in Evangeline’s mind and sent her on a quest for a kiss. But the path to perfection is paved with many bad kisses—the smash mouth, the ear licker, the “misser.” The phrase “I don’t kiss and tell” means nothing to the boys in her school. And worse: someone starts writing her name and number on bathroom walls. And worst of all: the boy she's just kissed turns out to be her best friend’s new crush. Kissing turns out to be way more complicated than the romance novels would have you believe . . .

                                                                My Review
I picked this up off my bookshelf and decided to give it a try since I've had for almost 8 months now.I have ''Flipped'', another book of Wendelin's that was actually turned into a movie and I rated it 3 of 5 stars. Definitely not my favorite writing style but definitily one worth checking out.Yet again this book has a divorce in it!

After a nasty divorce of her parents, Evangeline is always down in the dumps. When she and her mom move into a condo about a mile away from her best friend, she immediately feels even worse. There has always been one special place that she will always love ''Groove Records'' where you can buy any type of older music.
When Lily is cleaning under her moms bed, she finds romance novels. One is titled '' The Crimson Kiss''. Lily is now in love with that book and is on the hunt for her own ''crimson kiss''. She shares everything with her best friend and even this. When she decides to get a makeover so maybe she'll get noticed by the ''hot guy'', she is immediatly noticed and when he kisses her, his ex-girlfriend, Sunshine, spots them and now hates Evangeline.
After several attempts at a ''crimson kiss'', Lily accidentally kisses her best friends crush, but will he tell?
On top of that, her mom is forgiving her dad and now she has to deal with seeing her mom parked in their old houses driveway next to her dad's car on the walk to her friend's house. Then she kisses her best friends brother, Brody, on accident.
Lily's name and number start ending up on urinals and people are prank calling her now. Will Evangeline find her ''crimson kiss'' or will she just have a huge mess to clean up?

                                                                       4/5 STARS

What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

Release Date: May 10th 2011
Publisher: Viking
Format: Hardcover
Number of Pages: 402

                Goodreads Summary
Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out.

                                                               My Review
In three words I would probably describe this book as, horrible, real, didnt want to read. AMAZING , AMAZING, and AMAZING.I was excited for this book because (1) It's Sarah Dessen. (2) Her books are always very unique and beautifully written. I have enjoyed Sarah's writing style ever since I read ''Someone Like You''. Even though her books are a tiny bit hard to get into it results in being shocked when it starts going.

After a trajic divorce of her parents Mclean chooses to live with her father. Dad's job is at EAT INC. and they basically go to different restaurants across the country that are trouble or not inhabited basically. In each new play they move to, Mclean chooses a new identity and personality for herself , for example, Liz Sweet was the peppy cheerleader while Eliza was the geek in band and the welcome squad. When Mclean and her father arrive at their new home, Mclean must make a decision of who she wants to be. After being bored for a while and her dad being at work all day, Mclean hears a loud bass thumping next door and immediately decides to be Mclean, carefree and herself in some ways.

Mclean can't decide if she is falling for Dave, the next door genius/party thrower, or if she is just desperate for love. Opal, the manager at Luna Blu, the restaurant they are currently working on, just took on a HUGE project to make a model of the town and needs help. Dave and Mclean both volunteer and so do some of Dave's friends which end up turing into Mclean's friends. Will this be the start of a new beginning or just end up with her leaving them behind like in all of her other moves?

I really enjoyed the plot of this book and how it was set up and the characters and how they played out in this book.
                                                            5/5
